Founded in 1998 by master carpenter James Oakley, OakCraft began as a one-man workshop in a rented garage. Today, we are a full-service carpentry studio crafting heirloom-quality pieces for homeowners, designers, and businesses across the region.

We believe that true craftsmanship is a conversation between the maker and the material. Every grain, knot, and curve tells a story — and we honour that story in every piece we create.

Who We Are

A Workshop Built
on Tradition

OakCraft Carpentry Works was born in 1998 when James Oakley, a third-generation carpenter, decided the world needed furniture built to last — not to be replaced. Starting with just a bandsaw, a workbench, and decades of inherited knowledge, James built his first commissioned piece in a rented garage in Vermont.

Word spread. The garage became a workshop. The workshop became a studio. Today, OakCraft employs three master craftsmen and has completed over 1,400 projects for residential clients, interior designers, restaurants, and boutique hotels worldwide.

We work exclusively with sustainably sourced hardwoods — oak, walnut, cherry, maple, and ash — selected personally for each project. No shortcuts. No compromises. Every joint is hand-cut. Every surface is hand-finished.
